Event Description:

The Bastrop Juneteenth Committee is preparing for Juneteenth, the oldest known celebration of the ending of slavery.  The Bastrop Juneteenth Committee is proud to announce the events of its 31st celebration.  The 2018 event will be a weekend full of history, culture, music, food and fun for the entire family. 

On Friday, June 15th the celebration kicks off with a banquet honoring individuals in the area of community service at the Bastrop Convention Center.  After the banquet program and dinner the dance floor will open up where DJ Pat Luv will keep the music flowing.  On Saturday, June 16th at 10:00 a.m. get ready for the annual parade as it travels down Main Street and ends at the Kerr Community Center park on Walnut Street.  The celebration continues with the Emancipation Program at 11:30 a.m. with Nelson Linder as the keynote speaker.  All attendees are encouraged to travel to the Blue Flame Cruisers Car show right down the street from the park at Lost Pines 8 Theatres at the conclusion of the Emancipation program.

Bastrop Juneteenth’s most anticipated event, the street dance will begin at 8:00p.m. Saturday night with an added event, The Cruise In on Main and Spring Streets downtown  where participants of the Blue Flame Cruisers Car Show will gather for the evening.   The band this year will be the amazing “Mz. Dre and 2OneSoul who will rock the crowd all evening.
